About Me

IMG-20150323-WA0011  I am a Scientist turned Investment banker. During my scientific days, I worked as a Compuational Fluid Dynamics engineer in the Energy sector in general & mostly Oil & Gas industry in particular. I currently manage a team in Quantitative Finance in New York & London. Previously, I did Equity Research or research into the ‘real’ value of company’s stocks for many years. I have a BS & MS in Mechanical Engineering (USA) and MBA in Finance (USA) in terms of educational qualifications as well as licenses as a registered broker-dealer on Wall street. I was born in India and came to the US shores in 2003, since when I have embarked a journey full of experiences including education and jobs. Through years of research in science and finance, a common thread in my passions has been research into Vedic astrology aka Jyotish. My other passions include Travelling (aiming to complete 50 countries visited within the next couple of years, hopefully if the lockdown opens soon!), Photography, Hiking & various outdoor sports.

Idea of this blog is to dispel some rumors regarding astrology. Understanding what it is and what it isn’t. My intention is to share some knowledge that I have amassed over the last 26 years of study and research into this beautiful topic. I am by training and basic nature a person who believes in science and facts and would not take anything presented to me prima facie, unless I can see the rationality behind it. The reason I wouldn’t believe in astrology without understanding it was also the reason I didn’t dispel it completely without researching into it. After all, how can I be sure of its non existence when I am oblivious to the subject?

My journey of astrology began in 1993. I was very good in school, especially in Mathematics & Science. Numbers come naturally to me and I took keen interest in anything involving them. I was a curious reader since a young age and skeptical of astrology as a subject. I wanted to dispel the belief my mother had in astrology and for the same reason, decided to read up on the subject to be able to have an argument against it’s basic premises. As a child with strong interests in Maths, I was an ardent fan of the famous ‘human computer’ – the late Shakuntala Devi. Surprised to find a book by her on astrology (“Astrology For You”) I enthusiastically read and re-read the book. It was a simple treatise, yet elegantly written by someone whose skills were in the arena I loved so much – Mathematics. Realizing how heavy and mathematically involved the astrology field was from her book (especially before computers made the calculation part less cumbersome), I naturally wanted to read more into it, now that I knew a legendary person of mathematics researched into it.

Looking back  now, the book by the late Ms. Devi was written well and yet touching astrology very briefly. Infact it barely scratched the surface of this field, which later to my amazement opened up a pathway for me which took years of reading first and researching much later. Years 1994-2000 were spent mostly reading different treatises in Vedic astrology. These included encyclopedic sized Bhrigu Parasara Hora Shashtra (BPHS), the Jamini Sutras, Phaladeepika and the Lal Kitab, among others. My appetite grew with each reading and the early skepticism I had while reading Devi’s book had changed into belief and passion to know more about this field. In astrology, as some new students will understand, initial knowledge brings a struggle to apply rules verbatim on all new horoscopes one comes across. I believe many give up in the initial months or years as the thousands of rules and permutations/ combinations start to overwhelm a student. Many quit just because the results in this field are never fast enough. For years early on, the effort far exceeds the fruits of correct predictions. Takes a certain amount of insanity, if you will, to persevere during these initial years – or at least for those who remain true to it in terms of a research area, as opposed to trying to make a quick business out of it.

Thankfully I had a good head for astrology since get go. Call it the strong abilities in mathematics, deep passion and work into it or just beginner’s good luck, by the end of millennium, I had all but awestruck many of my relatives and friends with very accurate predictions, sometimes years ahead of the actual events, down the date or week. Following circa 2000, having exhausted the theory and a ‘practice set’ of 100 odd horoscopes early on, I started diving into more case studies as I found out that even though all the theory was absolutely vital to know, in itself it was insufficient to be a good astrologer. Brute force case studies and learning feedback loop from these was absolutely vital. Over time, I have been through some 2000 – 3000 horoscopes if not more and yet continue to learn this beautiful subject. I am a full time banker, a son, a friend too! So I keep putting in these hours at late nights, weekends, off days as a passion which has kept alive over two decades now.

In this blog I will make an effort to clarify what astrology is and isn’t and perhaps as time evolves, this blog can evolve and take its own course and shape.

PS: If you are looking for a reading, Don’t submit anything via contact Me, I DON’T unfortunately provide personal readings on this forum!

A very crisp and beautifully written Article . will you kindly analyse my bio data given below Sir !

  4. Very well written article. As you must have discovered there are literally hundreds of rules and also a large no. of exceptions to these rules..Most of the articles are postmortems of the events which have already occurred but not good enough to predict future. And the querrants are interested about the future. I agree that postmortems are part of our journey to establish trustworthiness of the rules.
Would welcome your articles giving the rules (based on your wide experience) which can be used for prediction.

Hello Vivekji – Good day! I would like to know which ayanamsa and siddhanta do you recommend using. I say this because the position of planets and various other facts change when the siddhanta is changed from Drik to Surya siddhanta.

Thanks for your time and effort.

    • VS says:

      Hello

I would recommend Modified Lahiri (where Spica star is fixed in the middle of ‘Chitra’ nakshatra). You can find this as one of the options in JHora.
Surya Sidhanta was utilized long back and made sense with the understanding of Physics/ astronomy in those days. You can feel free to experiment with different Ayanamsa and combinations, however with experience, astrologers develop their own preferences and mine is modified Lahiri (which is only just slightly different from traditional Lahiri)

      Hope that helps
      VS

    Sir,
You have written so nicely. U r a milestone in this era with so precise knowledge of astrology and its simplicity.

GOD BLESS YOU, Keep on writing sir.

I hv one question regarding use of RAHU/KETU NODE in JHORA software, whether it should be taken as TRUE OR MEAN, as i m using sublord of it also.
snap shot is there, please be describe in writing

    Planet calculation option:
    GEOCENTRIC position

    TRUE positions

    TRUE nodes
is it right. because it is affecting in sublord position of Rahu/ketu. pl sir.

    • VS says:

      Ravinder-

      Thanks for the good words.
As for Rahu, please always take the TRUE position not the MEAN position. The mean is just a long term average. The actual motion of Rahu/ ketu is fastest when as far away from Sun and Moon as possible and absolutely stagnant when conjunct either sun or moon. TRUE will show the real position of the nodes and hence use those only

      Thanks,
      VS

    Dear Sri VS,

Your page contains very informative and exhaustive articles on a different perspective,
    very good indeed.

I have a doubt: the lord Mars for lagna scorpio is also owns the 6th house. Now what the lagna lord will do for the 6th house?
    Please explain and Thank you
    T.Sachidanandam

    • VS says:

      Thanks for the comments
Mars in 6th house in mooltrikona is a good placement. Its full aspect on lagna will recharge the lagna and give robust health if mars is unaspected or well aspected. On the other hand if mars in 6th is combust and or aspected only by Rahu/ saturn then it will give diseases of the blood, brain as well as accidents and surgeries.

in general the person can be hot headed and full of energy. They can also have a strong ego/ jealousy feelings towards people more successful then them and they can get involved in frequent litigation due to that
ketu if cojoining or exact trinal to mars in 6th will give frequent accidents/ surgeries/ injuries

  13. SG says:

    Hello Vivek,

I was going through your article and really it was very crisp and clear and on the other hand very informative. It is so clearly written that any one with absolutely zero understanding of the subject will get interest in reading and get a good grasp on the subject.

We want more article from you in astrology. Thanks very much for such a wonderful write up.

I have one doubt if you can guide:

    1. While we predict should be consider planet position on D1 or Bhaav Chalit
    2. Got confused here – Ascendant is Tauras. Placement of planet
    a) SUN, MER, KET in ASC (1st House)
    b) SAT & VEN (2nd house – Gemini)
    c) Moon (8th House Saggi)
    d) MAR & JUP (11th House – Pisces)

    Question is

    i) Saturn as Yoga Karaka as the lord of Kendra (10th) & Trikona (9th) when sitting with Venus in 2nd house will be Benefic or Malefic and what will be its effect on Ven (+ve or -ve)
ii)Mars as the Asc lord sitting with Jup Benefic planet, will Mars will act as Benefic or Malefic for this chart

    • VS says:

saturn will be a yogakaraka for taurus. If sitting with venus in a friendly sign of gemini, will give wealth and status. on the other hand will also tend to separate from family during its dasa

if taurus is the ascendant then mars is not the asc lord, venus is

sorry that i dont do individual personal readings much

      thanks

  14. Sundar says:

    Sri VS:
Can you make a video on D-9 with an emphasis on marriage?
    Thank you.

  15. Varun says:

Hello Vivekji – Do you think that wearing an Emerald for a gemini lagna and rashi can do any good if Mercury is placed in 5th house libra with Sun(at approximately same degree – 1 degree, in chitra nakshatra) ? This Mercury is both vargottama and vakri but is also deeply combust.

    Thanks

    • VS says:

yes emerald can be worn in this case

      • Sundar says:

How about Sun + merc in Gemini but for a Pisces asc sitting in the 7th house? If not, why VS? Thanks.

        • VS says:

          Hi Sundar

my advise to you is to actually start looking at 3 to 5 AA rated horoscopes in a day and do only case studies. Stop learning generic rules of this plus this for this ascendant. Same combination can be average, bad or excellent in different cases. To really learn a horoscope, one has to take a deep dive and learn from case studies

          • Sundar says:

How do I get AA rated horoscopes VS?

          • VS says:

in the astro.com website, look for any horo, on the top is a rating. AA means where the time is known for certain (example with birth certificate)
You can search for any category like politicians, dictators, sportsmen, film stars, scientists or even from any lifestyle like wealthy etc.

Not all data available is AA rated. In the beginning focus only of AA rated ones. There are thousands of those available to research

          • Mayur Kher says:

For doing case study one should get authentic information, as I was trying to study sport celebrities, I got different details of Birth in different medias, can you kindly lead me to authentic source.

          • VS says:

astrobank. Put in a name and Rodden rating an google
look at the charts only which have AA rating (these are authentic with a birth certificate on record)

  16. Varun says:

    Thank you sir!

God bless you young man for spending so much of your time sharing your knowledge! I will post this whenever my mind tells me to. This coming from a person who does the trikaala sandhya-vandana every day without fail and does shalagraama (govinda) abhisekam everyday, it should have some value (about 5% of a Rishi’s blessing I mean). May Perumaal (Govinda) bless you with all good things in life.

You are rendering great service to beginners in Astrology, Kudos to you.

  20. Mayur Kher says:

Does Modified Lahiri Ayanamsa called Chitrpaksha Ayanamsa, also kindly tell me which Astrological Software incorporate Modified Lahiri Ayanamsa or Chitrapaksh Ayanamsa if it is called so.

  21. Mayur Kher says:

What is the effect of Ketu in Abhijeet Nakshtra in Kota Chakra

    • VS says:

any planet gives good results in the Abhijeet tara by definition. However its existence is disputed territory in astrology and i dont believe in it as well

  22. Mayur Kher says:

I have a Astrology Software where there is provision for customized Ayanamsa but it does not have Modified Lahiri Ayanamsa, can you help me with the format – Base Date, Precession Rate per Year, Base Value, Annual Precession Rate Adjustment, for Modified Lahiri Ayanamsa

  23. Subramanyam says:

How does one interpret houses when lagna has a high or low degree? For example, lagna is 28 degrees in Taurus. Say Mars is in Taurus at 3 degrees and Saturn in Virgo at 2 degrees. We say Mars is in 1st house and Saturn in 2nd house, but given the high degree of the ascendant it seems more logical to think that Mars is in 12th house and Saturn in 1st house. Is this what the Sri Patti chart tries to do? Any thought on this?

    Appreciate your clarification.

    • VS says:

Nothing confusing here. Take it 1 step at a time
in your given example, mars is in 12th BHAAV and 1st RASHI. its effects will be as per 12th bhaav placement but its actual dignity or ‘color’ is of that of mars sitting in Taurus and not of aries (where it is mooltrikona). Next step is to check where is venus sitting in the chart and how strong/ weak. Mars will also give effects of where venus sits as venus deposits mars in this case

      • Subramanyam says:

VS: Thanks for your answer, Makes sense. One more clarification: how do we determine lordship of houses? Would it depend on both rashis occupied by the so-called “revised” houses (bhavs)? In this case 1st house straddles both Taurus and Virgo, so would 1st house lord/s be Venus or Mercury or both? Thanks.

        • VS says:

lordship will be of the planet where the bhaav Madhya of the rashi falls. so if Taurus ascendant is at 29 degrees and mars is at 2 degrees in Taurus. the ruler of 1st house is venus. and mars will given intense 12th bhaav results. when mars dasa and venus bhukti runs, 12th effects will be most intense

what is A2,A3,A4,A5 in JHora Horoscope

  25. Mayur Kher says:

    Sir,
Can the transiting planets be considered for their positions with Arudha Lagna, Ghati Lagna & Indu Lagna for making transit effects prediction of planets, apart from treating this Special Lagnas as Ascendants while predicting effects of different planets in Natal chart.

  26. kundan raj says:

Sir….I hv doubt..it sun exalted with rahu in 9th house..sun degree 7 .18 rahu 6.12.sun rahu both in ashwini nakshatra..depositor Mars in 5th house…how will be rahu mahadasha..plz reply sir

    • VS says:

will be excellent. Give all sorts of luck and rise in career and life. issues with father’s health and longevity will come and the person will have an aggressive personality in general

      • kundan raj says:

Vs Sir. ..does it sun rahu conjunct increase the leadership quality
        In general?

        • VS says:

yes only if the dignity of the planets is good in the chart and if they are placed typically in the 9th to 11th bhaavs – which are the public/ extroverted houses in a chart. however it can also give a big ego, a generally selfish and self obsessed person and someone who doesn’t mind hook or crook to gain anything they wish to…

  27. kundan raj says:

Hello vs Sir. . Leo lagna jupiter is 5th and 8th lord..if it placed in 7th house d9 its in pisces…and depositor saturn in 4th house and virgottam. .in general please clarify this jupiter is good for leo lagna study and marriage?

  28. I will write more points regarding dasas in the subsequent articles, but the reader can now start checking the dasa they are running in JHora by clicking on the ‘Dasas’ tab on the top of the software and selecting Vimshottari dasa among the ‘Nakshatra dasas’ tab in the feature. Click on the time period of an MD and a drop down will keep giving you lower levels of AD, PD etc. Try. Practice…

I AM UNABLE TO FIND THE TAB LINK ‘Dasas” in your website
Can you please me mail so that i can check exact dasaa balance at the time of birth?
I will be indebted to life for ever ; ever affly yours, charriramesh@gmail.com

  29. Ludo says:

    Hi VS,
tell me my friend, what have you learned in general from Jyotish?
what wanted the sages to teach us when they taught Jyotish? Mere predictions? it seems too low as a reason coming from Rishis. It is about Karma. tell me your thoughts about it, as you would have seen your own death prediction, diseases, debilitations and sorrows. I want a sincere opinion from you. Feel free to email me if you dont want to make it public.

    • VS says:

Jyotish – loosely translates (from Sanskrit) as the guiding light. I am very sure that the original intent of rishis was way more than just predictions. it was to act as a guiding light – to those in despair, to those in need. Also helps quickly ascertain a person’s strengths. Example Mercury and Jupiter are strong and in conjunction in a chart. the person will have a deep ability in writing and communication and even inspirational speech. Now if Saturn also joins this, this could be a deep ability spanning from general to technical subjects as well. however Saturn in this case will delay it to middle age as opposed to early on in life. in this scenario in childhood the person might not follow this path to leverage their strongest skills in terms of destiny and this is where Jyotish can help by the guidance/ counselling

      • Anu says:

        Hi,
Sorry to barge in this thread. But I wanted to know what ‘Middle age’ definition is in reality. I have received different ages for this terminology – 30, 32, 35, 40 and few say it depends on the planet and ages pertaining to it(I have no clue).
I have the above mentioned example in my chart with Me+Ju+Sa in third house where Me exalts, and Ju vargottama(also my Atmakaraka). I have a very deep urge to learn astrology & to guide people. I have been able to start my studies in astrology only an year back after my Rahu dasa started… still stumbling on the basics and no clarity in my path. May be the confusion is due to the Rahu in Lagna (both Lagna and Ra in Pushkara Vargottama, Punarvasu 4p)…Hoping something might clearup soon

Appreciate if you can show some light on my question and my path

        Kind regards,
        Anu

        • VS says:

in parasari astrology Madhya aayu generally means 36-72 years. longevity prediction is something I don’t advise at all. as for maturity of planets, that is well known and good to use. like Saturn matures between 36 to 42 years etc.
so when a planet is maturing, see where it sits in the chart. what it rules in the chart and what planets aspect it. those combined with dasas and transits dictate phalit results

  30. vidya says:

    Nicely written reply.
I had similar question too. What is the point of knowing about something that will happen in future? Shouldn’t one accept how things transpire… A good prediction acts as a placebo and makes the person be hopeful about future. Even if given some negative prediction might help utilize his time best, or in accepting the situation or just more thinking(to perform any good karma).
So also about remedies – I get confused on what is point of a gemstone when remedies should be seva.

    • VS says:

      Hi Vidya

yes nothing wrong in not knowing the future. Infact that is more of the norm for 99% or more people at all times. Jyotish, as I said before, is only meant to be a guiding light. To show you the strong and weak parts of one’s personality/ character as well as good and difficult times ahead.

Difficult times are like say a snowy day with ice on the roads. if you are given a warning, you might wear more layers, take some extra supplies in the car and also drive more slowly and carefully. doesn’t guarantee that you wont run into trouble…but guarantees that you will be more prepared for whatever comes your way.

as for upaayas, any upaay where a poor person, needy individual is helped is good karma and its into the asset part of your portfolio. Sins we do are the debts. Any and all charity/ philanthropy are hence, by definition, always good to undertake and I always encourage

Lastly for gems, they act as magnifiers. They are not by definition used as a remedy, rather as means of enhancing the impact of good planets in ones chart which are functional benefics and have an intention to do good but are relatively weak and need a boost

  31. ALREADY SENT THE MESSAGE thru contact me option.

QUERY NO. 1 I wish to know whether it is okay if there is difference
of 7 minutes 30 seconds [+] or [-] between actual time of birth and manually recorded birth time which in my case is quite happening.

QUERY NO 2 There is a different /varying output in different website namely astrolinked.com, astrosage.com, mpanchang.com in balance dasa at the time of birth
How to arrive at correct istakkal timing to make correct/perfect Janma kundalini, janma pathrika/natal chart

    • VS says:

the dasa balance is calculated as per the exact longitude of moon at birth, which will change for every second, but certainly change noticeably within 5 to 10 minutes
secondly Ayanamsa makes a big difference. If one site/ software uses Lahiri and another uses Raman Ayanamsa, the results of dasas and planet longitudes will be very different. thanks

  32. kundan raj says:

Vs Sir ..rahu mahadasha did not give its good result before the age of 32? Please clarify?

  33. I wish to know in general whether it would make difference
in predicitons if ACTUAL/AUTHENTIC time of birth [hrs:minutes:seconds:milliseconds:] differs between
    RECORDED/PHYSICALLY NOTED manual natal chart/birth chart/kundalini?

In my case it is [12 hours:52 minutes : 10 seconds]
and recorded time is [12 hours:45 minutes]

Can you please enlighten me on this?
I will be indebted to life for ever.
    Affly yours,
    Charriramesh

  34. I would like to know major difference between LAGNA
chart and AYANAMSA chart? Can you tell briefly?

    • VS says:

there is no such thing as an ayanamsha chart

      • Is it AMSA in TAMIL prounced as AMSAM chart. Is it correct?
if so, Can you tell briefly difference between RAASHI[Lagna] chart and AMSA[m] chart and the role they play in one’s[horoscope] predictions?

        • VS says:

not sure about your terminology here. Rashi chart is the main chart with 12 signs each having 30 degrees at the time of birth. Divisional charts or Amsa charts, are charts which are for particular aspects of life like D9 for marriage/ family, D10 for career, D4 for assets and wealth etc

  35. I had a horoscope consultation with Vedicgrace foundation DELHI
Initially i gave recorded time 12:Hrs:42 minutes:10 seconds

Then i sent a mail telling there is small change in timing
    i.e. 12Hrs:52 minutes:10 seconds
that is a difference of 10 MINUTES

They replied they have considered both timings but there is no change
    in my LAGNA CHART
Please i wish to know whether this difference would make any impact
on my AMSA pronounced in TAMIL as AMSAM chart?
    Can you please reply?

    • VS says:

what they mean is that the lagna does not change in those 10 minutes. A lagna usually can stay around from 2 to 2.5 hrs on an average. Anyone born in those 2 hrs will have the same lagna chart unless any planet changes sign in that time. Divisional charts will change as the degrees of the lagna progress in those 2 hours

  36. Vishwajit says:

    Sir,

Will it be correct to say planets mature completely by the age of 42. Rahu takes the longest.
Thereafter life could be somewhat smooth or takes a different path. Can you please share your thoughts.

    Thanks, Vh

    • VS says:

rahu maturity ages are 42 to 48. Ketu matures at ones 47th birthday. cycles repeat every 35 years so if Saturn matures between 35th to 41st birthday, it will mature again on 70th birthday etc

  37. Hi Vivek,

Very interesting bio. You are leading a full and fruitful life. God bless you.

I am currently in Saturn MD. Adversity can draw one to sprituality and astrology!

I have many questions and google for direction. One such brought me to your site. This is a treasure trove of knowledge. Great job.

A question on dispositor. Jupiter in Cancer, for Leo Lagna. (8th lord in 12th!!!) Dispositor, Moon, waning and thus malefic (kroora) but exalted in Taurus. What will the effect be on Jupiter? Does a strong, malefic moon help or hurt Jupiter’s agenda?

    Thanks,
    Sam

    • VS says:

      thanks for the kind words
jupiter in this situation is not bad, except for children and if close to the sensitive degree of 12th bhaav, it can lead to loss of children. it will give a kind and benevolent soul, someone who bothers about others more than himself sometimes…however all depends on other planets in the chart as well. I dont do personal readings, just here to have people learn to fish as opposed to giving them one. thanks

      • You are most welcome and thank you, Vivek.

I respect your not doing personal readings and that is why I did not give details with regards to degrees etc. I am seeking to learn and on the web I see a lot of wanna be astrologers with incorrect knowledge.

So, my question is – one of the factors influencing a graha is the strength of its dispositor. If the dispositor has a high shadbala but happens to be a functional malefic, how do we interpret it? Will it help or hurt ?

Kindly bear with me for my questions. From your answer –
Sensitive point of a bhaav = bhaav madhya?
Soul aspect based on 8th Lord in 12th and children aspect based on 5th Lord in 12th? If the answer would be too long for the time available to you or if I am not even close, forget this question.

Thank you for your time and help.

        • VS says:

yes sensitive point is bhaav Madhya which is same as lagna degree when using the equal house system which I recommend
yes Mooltrikona is 5th and karaka of 5th gives a heavy children portfolio to Jupiter and being in 12th if close to the sensitive point can lead to loss of one or more children, especially if aspected by Saturn or rahu in 12th

  38. Thank you Vivek. I am going through the topics here one by one and learning so much. This a treasure trove of knowledge, glad I found it.
You seem to have accumulated so much good karma for your young age. Teaching others this noble subject. And, until some time ago, doing astrological readings. All for free, WOW!! God bless you immensely.

Great Blog for Astro enthusiasts.I have a question whether Taurus Ascendant can wear blue sapphire if Saturn in placed in trik house, say 6th,exalted & retrograde?

  41. Mayur Kher says:

Can you kindly elaborate generic effect of Rahu

    • VS says:

there is an article on it on this website

      • Mayur Kher says:

I scrolled through the list of Articles on right side of this web page, I could find generic effects of Ketu link but not generic effect of Rahu, I colud find Rahu Dasha generic effect & generic prediction links.

  42. TRR says:

i have generic query on transits. How do transit period duration are arrived and what is reference for that duration? Though Saturn for 2 1/2 yrs, it gets extended to almost 3 yrs why this deviation and similarly “unusual” Mars retrograde ( 6 months instead of 45 days), what is basic for these transit duration and how it gets authenticated?

    • VS says:

transit means the actual real time movement as evident from an observer on earth. they never move retrograde, it is relative apparent motion
like there is time keeping and a calendar for dates and time, there is a detailed calendar for planetary movements called Ephemeris. More easily in contemporary times of computers and technology, this is fed into softwares covering 1000s of years of movement

  43. TRR says:

i put it otherway, Why saturn transit deviates to 3 yrs instead of 2 1/2 yrs ? Ephemeris should indicates either one of it, not both. How other one has brought in astrology?

    • VS says:

No idea what you are talking about. 2.5 years is just an average. Like the average temperature for a month is say 27 celcius, however most times the actual temp will be a bit above or below it. Saturn completes a cycle in about 29 to 29.5 years. So you can divide 29.5 by 12 which comes out to be 2.5 years. Sometimes it will spend more in one rasi that the other. longer term it will balance out as in the next cycle, it might spend more time in the other rasi

      • MKS says:

I think when a planet goes retrograde, it slows down or goes in opposite direction, and hence stays/transits longer in one sign as compared to not being retrograde, i.e., moving direct. VS – please correct if I am wrong. Thanks

        • VS says:

yes however jupiter and saturn are always retrograde in every given sign they transit. rahu and ketu are always retrograde and sun and moon are never retrograde

only mars, mercury and venus might or not retrograde in a sign depending on how far they are from the sun when transiting that particular sign

          • Jayathirth says:

Sir, was reading your articles. Your articles are very depth and highly analytical. I just want a clarification with respect to my chart. I tried posting my queries in this portal but somehow i couldn’t, so am posting it right now. I am scorpio ascendant. I have rahu in lagna(Scorpio), Saturn in 4th house(Aquarius-Retrograde), 7th house Ketu, Venus in 9th house(cancer), Sun and moon in 10th house(leo), Mars, Jupiter and Mercury in 11th house(Virgo). Mars varghothama in 11th house, moon varghothamasa in 10th house. Sun is in UttaraPhalguni nakshatra 1st Pada. Few astrologers have told that there is Government Job with respect to sun and moon position. They further added that sun and moon conjunction gives rise to Dharma karmadhipati Yoga. But am little doubtful about moon period because moon has low paksha bala, since it is waning. I was born on chaturdashi thithi. Do you feel, is there any Government Job in my life. Right now am in moon mahadasa-Jupiter antardasha. Also can you throw some light how mars is placed. Is mars lagna lord and 6th lord in 11th house along with mercury and jupiter good. Mars is in 28 degrees, jupiter is in 24 degrees, mercury is in 12 degrees. lagna is in 19 degrees, moon is in 16 degrees, sun is in 28degrees 39sec

          • VS says:

I am sorry, can not answer individual reading queries

  44. Ravi says:

some cases, Navamsa chart generated thru Hora SW and local astrologer at the time of birth are different (say As in Leo and Libra resp) and Ju (Sg and Cp) respectively, though rasi chart is same for both (local astrologer chart doesnt give any degrees). How do we proceed? Even if timing is edited to suit, Ju placement is not aligned.

    • VS says:

you have to proceed by first understanding the reasons for the differences

Ideally this depends on the types of ayanamsa being used which will change the degrees of lagna as well as various planets. There are other settings in astrological softwares which might also lead to a difference in various calculations. All these factors have to be taken into account to understand the reasons for the differences

  45. Asena says:

    Wonderful.
In my native language, which is Bulgarian and has quite a few Sanskrit-sounding words , Jyotisha means Life and the word Vedic- One that leads, guides, a guide, a leader, Budha is a verb here= to awaken. We also have toponyms Yana and Yantra. 🙂
And, once again, it seems to me Vedic astrology is more of an algebraic one while the Western is more of a geometric in its methods.

  46. Sundar says:

Hello VS, for a scorpio asc, how does Sun do in Leo as 10 lord? I have heard various opinions, one along the lines of Bhaav naash, hence asking.

    Thank you.

    • VS says:

Hi Surya kn own house for scorpio ia great for governmental or administrative or political jobs. Sun bhaavo karaka naashe is 9th not 10th bhaav

Since sun ruled just 1 rashi, if it sits alone in 10th, it isnt that great. Better is to have a yoga as in conjunction or aspect with Jupiter or an opposition with 9th lord moon in which case moon and sun will have both full directional strength as well as a full moon

  47. Mrugesh says:

    Hi VS,
For me, reading the question/answer discourse everyday is very informative. Only way I can do it is via Recent Comments link on the top right. However it always shows 5 last comments. I understand sometimes you may have answered more questions and those answers are not easily retrievable. Can you configure the recent comments list to be longer?

Or is there any other way to see bigger recent comments list?

    Thanks,
    Mrugesh

    • VS says:

Mrugesh thanks for the good words, not sure about how the site looks
in the next 6 months, I will revamp this site and potentially add a forum section where people can chat and threads be made, so bear with me for some more time

  48. Abhishek Paandey says:

For a scorpio ascendant if saturn is in 12 house libra will it be considered good or bad ..as saturn exalted but sitting in 12th house and same way mercury is in 11th own house but its lord of 8th house.

Mercury is retro as well as combust.

    • VS says:

it will give good effects of the combiination of karakatva of 12th and saturn. so figure out what things are common in saturn and 12th and those things will be exalted. 2ndly more success in foreign lands as opposed to native land. but a steep fall in career or position is possible especially if sun is weak in the chart

  49. Rahul says:

    Hi vivek sir
V raghuraman has written in his book that jupiter and saturn combination is very fortunate combination for career .in his word even if the native were to take to begging he would be the king of beggars.i think this combination must form rajyog in the birth chart.roger federer has this combination.please state your opinion

    • VS says:

saturn is general karaka for profession and jupiter is karaka for luck, expansion and fame…so if they combine in a good bhaav/ rashi, they certainly tend to make the person very fortunate and if the 10th lord and bhaav are also strong, the person will certainly rise to the top in their profession, whatever that might be

  50. Varun says:

VSji, is 4th house Virgo for a mithun lagna and rashi a good house for such a combination? The dispositor(Mercury) here is possibly weak due to combustion and rashi sandhi but is retrograde and well placed in 5th house

  51. Varun says:

Thanks VSji. How to come to a conclusion whether Mercury is strong or weak(both functionally and generically) as there are different theories on retrograde planets weakening due to combustion?

  52. Rahul says:

    Vivek sir
With respect to roger federer’ chart i have a question about his venus in papakartri yoga but his marital harmony with his wife does not show the same.is venus in papa kartri yog in his chart?

    • VS says:

kartari yogas are relatively common. they do not make or break other yogas and combinations as well as dignity of other planets in the chart

  53. Mahesh says:

    Dear Vivek,

I am Mahesh, we used to discuss few times in LOVA nearly five years ago. During that time, I had requested you to see the chart of a close relative girl with some questions. You were kind enough to spend some time and gave reading about some future events. For an issue, you mentioned to ask me that time. Any way, I find many points in your reading came true. Thanks for that. Now, in your free time, can you see the same chart for further issues? I wish to send you by mail in details and get reply from you by same mail. Please send your email add to my mail. Looking forward for your reply. Best regards
    mahesh

    • VS says:

thanks for the nice words Mahesh. Generally I avoid personal readings and encourage self learning and good discussions as opposed to personal readings

  54. Rahul says:

    Vivek sir
Transit of saturn over bhrigu bindu activates this point then which transit of saturn is stronger that is direct transit or retrograde transit over bhrigu bindu?

    • VS says:

direct transit always leads of precipitation of results more than retrograde
Strongest transit is always when a planet is stationary – which happens just before beginning of a retrogression or just after ending of a retrogression as a planet stays at that point for a long time and will hence keep magnifying the effects of that particular point

  55. Sundar says:

    Hello Vivek,
Please see my email from sundar_revathi@comcast.net, not a request for a reading.

    • VS says:

Hi, I have great respect for Rao ji and this thoughts. from my own experience, the yogas in divisionals are not that important. again just difference of opinion.
One big trick I can reveal for all here. Look at the rashi in which a planet is placed in the divisional. the the dasa combination of the 2 will precipitate the events

example saturn sits in libra in dasamsa. When saturn dasa or antardasa is running, and venus sub period comes in it or vice versa, some event related to career/ job will be precipitated. How the event will be depends on the strength and placement in D1 in combination with D10. So for example if in D1 the 2 are funcitonal benefics and strong then the event can be a promotion, pay hike etc. However if in D10 say saturn in libra and venus in aquarius with pisces ascendant in D10 then saturn and venus in D10 are in 8th and 12th but also both in each other rashis which is like a vipreet raj yoga. so in real life they will precipitate some positive event in job but after some initial hurdle or stress. example the person might be forced to resign or get laid off but soon they find a job much better than the previous one. or in other words the impact is positive but after initial stress or setbacks

  56. Venkatraman Sundaram says:

I went through some of the articles in your blog. They are excellent. I intend following your blog very closely. I understand that your first name is Vivek. Can I know your surname too? 57. Rahul says:

    Vivek sir
Can venus and moon in 10th from ascendant give editorial job?sir i m talking about birth chart of a very prominent lady astrologer

    • VS says:

it can give a job which is in limelight. mercury is usually also connected for journalism jobs by aspect or trinality etc

      • Rahul says:

        Vivek sir

Presence of moon in 10th house can give jobs which is in lime light or presence of both venus and moon?is moon responsible for contact with masses?

        • VS says:

moon represents masses along with saturn but also the natural karaka of fame and karaka of arudha lagna. Hence a strong moon in arudha lagna or aspecting arudha lagna also tends to give fame
venus represents everything related to glamor and luxury and art/beauty

10th house is the midheaven or where the extroverted image or professional/social/ career image of a person is

  58. Rahul says:

    Thanks vivek sir

  59. Rahul says:

    Sir
I think sarurn represents lower class people and the moon represents middle class people.should jupiter be considered as karaka for fame?are you referring to jemini aspect in your above answer?

  60. Madhvi Mohindra says:

  62. Gauri says:

Hi, what is the result of Venus in the twelth house in Gemini ascendant? It is at 1.03 degree. Since it is also the lord of 5th house and 12tg, does it put all aspects of 5th house (education, creativity, progeny) at a loss, since 12th house is the house of losses ? Please suggest.

    • VS says:

by itself venus in own house in 12th is not a bad placement. it can give luxuries and wealth, especially in foreign or far away from home lands

  63. Sundar says:

    Hello VS:
For a Aquarius lagna, how does saturn do in the 12th? I am seeing one case, seems like the person has lot of hidden things, very secretive…Also, if it is aspected by Venus in the 6th (MKS for Venus), how does Saturn behave?

    Thanks

  64. Gauri says:

    Hi,
If Astrology is based on the whole idea that each and everything in our lives is predestined to happen at a given time and place, then how do you rationalise natural calamities such as floods and earthquakes and terrorist attacks where hundreds of people die together. Does it imply all there horoscopes have the same planetary placements and transits that make this happen? What is your perspective on this? Please share, thanks.

    • VS says:

      Hello Gauri

your assumption is that some particular planetary placement or transit or dasa causes death. there is no such thing. any planet or dasa can theoretically be the cause of the end, it all depends on the functional nature of the planet, its generic nature, yogas, dignities, aspects etc etc. and yes multiple people die all the time …everywhere. just that in the examples you quoted, such people are coming together at one place at some given time, which seems like a sad coincidence but yes destiny is destiny

  65. Priya Kanumuri says:

    Hi VS,
In my sons chart , Capricorn ascendant, Saturn got low score in ashtakavarga, very low score in shadbala – 0.7, but vimsopaka Bala average 13, how will be his Saturn mahadasa ?
    Appreciate your wisdom and time
    Priya

    • VS says:

these factors are not enough a comprehensive chart analysis needs to be done to ascertain saturn or any other planet’s effects

  66. Mrugesh says:

    Hi VS,
Have you published any book Astrology?
If not, are you planning to? I wish you do. I think your distilled knowledge spread over the Q&A as well as the articles need to be presented in proper form. It will be a great service to the community at large. I understand, it is not easy to give away so easily, what you amassed with lot of zeal and practice.

I think it could be a small book focusing on mid to advance level astrologers.

    Looking forward to your thoughts.

    Best regards,
    Mrugesh

    • VS says:

Yes thank your for the kind words, as I just replied to a comment by ‘BNP’ I am planning to both revamp this website as well as work on my book for intermediate level in the coming calendar year 2020

I thank you all for the support and interest in my articles and writings!

It has been so long since your last writeup and I have been waiting for you to provide more. I know you have a very busy schedule but if you can add more topics, I am sure lot more us can benefit from.

    Keep up the good work.

    Pranam Sir,

if 6th , 8th and 12th house lord are conjunct in 11th house what would be its impact

    Regards

    • VS says:

materialistically it is not a bad combination at all and will create a vipreet raj yoga. on the other hand, it is not good for health and can lead to injuries/ surgeries

  71. Aarthi Muthuswamy says:

Hi Vivek , great writing and really appreciate for passing the knowledge very precisely and for free. I would like to understand why 7th lord in 9th house is considered bad for marriage and leads to divorce? Is this statement true even if the 7th lord is exalted in 9th house?

    • VS says:

by itself, this is not a sufficient condition for divorce at all. if the 7th lord is placed well in the 9th house then certainly wont lead to divorce. 3rd bhaav is 8th from 8th and hence also aayu or life sustaining bhaav, that is why the loss of it or 12th from it or 2nd house is a marak or killer house. 7th is marriage and so 3rd from 7th is the life force of marriage. if the 7th lord is afflicted there and has malefic influence/ aspects then the life of the marriage can be reduced/ end of life of marriage implies divorce

  72. akash salwan says:

Thanks, it’s really very interesting, crisp & informative. you have given a detailed summary of the subject.

  73. Rahul says:

    Sir
Venus at 10 degree in leo is in mrityubhaga . Venus in 9 to 10 degree and 10 to 11 degree in leo is in mrityu bhaga?

      • Rahul says:

        Sir
What is the outcome if ascendant is in mrityu bhaga?

        • VS says:

can lead to fluctuating health if lagna lord itself strong. if lagna lord also weak then serious diseases and short life can result or unstable personality
however one has to be very careful as the ascendant degrees change quickly and hence even a minute or 2 difference can change that degree…without time rectification, is hard to make that call

  74. Rahul says:

    Vivek sir
In BHAVA CHALIT CHART moon(Gemini) in 10th house and merucury (Gemini) 11 th house so can this combination be called exchange between 10 th and 11 th Lords?

    • VS says:

exchange of lords happens as per rasi chart and not bhaav

      • Rahul says:

        Sir
How does this combination differ from exchange of 10 th and 11th Lord in rashi chart as in bhava chalit chart 11 th Lord is in 10 th and 10 th Lord moving into 11 th. Sir what wud be outcome if 10 th Lord goes into 11th and 11 th Lord is in 10 th house?

        • VS says:

no idea what you are saying Sir

exchange by definition is of rashis and hence applicable only from the rasi chart and not the chalit chart!

  75. james says:

is there a reason why the details for calculating the special lagnas are not being provided by anyone on the internet? instead everyone is referring to software…. it can’t be that hard.. why is no one sharing the details on how to arrive that the special lagnas? it would also provide some understanding of the conclusions on their characteristics as well.. thanks..

    • VS says:

the problem isnt the internet, it is the people who are trying to learn jyotish via only the internet/ googling.

If you pick up the detailed text of parasar hora sastra, phaladeepika et al. even detailed treatises by the likes of BV Raman etc, you will find all such details. Like any other body of work, e.g. medicine, if one tries to get an MD by just googling, they are bound to be ‘not good’ doctors! any detailed study needs time, effort and patience

Yet, I am sure, you like many others will first give up after a few google searches and then find a site like this via google to come out and vent their frustration on. Good luck!

      • Abhishek Pande says:

Agreed 100% with VS above. Besides the classics, PVR’s book Vedic Astrology – An Integrated Approach has an entire section on special lagnas (including methods of computation too for those interested). But since it has got a lot of ganit, folks tend to jump the gun on the ganit part and rush to absorb the phalit.

For those who can relate, its like jumping to try and solve Irodov’s problems in general physics w/o first fully comprehending Prof. HC Verma’s work …thought of going back to high-school days and try and keep it to a lighter note 🙂

I am a HR professional, I was always intrigued by Astrology. My father never believed in astrology and used to tell me that it is a stick which people use when they are in fear. Whatever happens will happen you cannot change , hence no need of Astrology, accept the way it happens and be ready to face it.
My father -in-law is strong believer in astrology and says whatever has been written cannot be changed but you can mitigate the bad effects.
Having these 2 extreme views, i feel that i myself should learn it to understand which view is correct hence i am starting my journey and would require your support in the same

    Hello VS:
From my limited knowledge there are 2 things I know about direction: Vaayu rasis belong to the western direction. The other thing I know is lagna is east, 7th is west etc.
I hear astrologers saying that, for example, New Delhi would be affected by the June 21 eclipse. How does one determine that? I am not looking for details, just a pointer.

    Thank you.

    • VS says:

typically nations/ cities have a lagna chart, like a human, as per their independence or some proclamation as a separate state/ union etc
Personally I do not delve much into mundane charts as my belief is that the dasa and transit systems are more geared towards a human life span as opposed to something perpetual and thus my research in mundane astrology is more limited

i am regular reader and your writing is great.
    I have a query.
Do you have any chart which you consider as perfect or near perfect?
or can you for example place planets in a chart which is best in every way?
(i am myself not sure what this really means, “best in every way”)
Or place planets in a way which is very hard to further improve upon?

    regards
    rajeev

    • VS says:

      hello

no there is no such thing as a perfect chart
that said in general, it is good to have similar set of planets forming yogas in a chart even if they are functional malefics. One set is Sun, moon, mars and jupiter and the other set is Saturn, Mercury & Venus

  88. KARAN SINGH says:

    Hello Vivekji,
I am in learning phase of vedic astrology.
As per my understanding,Moon Mahadasha(Moon is in 10th house with Saturn and Venus) and Mercury antardasha(mercury is in 11th house in birth chart along with Rahu and Sun) is good for Scorpio ascendant in all aspects.
But person who I gave my analysis had bad period in Moon mahadasha and mercury antardasha, his unborn son died in womb and he lost his onsite assignment too.Plus he had heavy loss in investment.
I wonder how come exalted Mercury in Virgo sign did not bear good results.
If Mercury is bad for him, then I think Mars Mahadasha(Mars in 8th house along with Jupitar) and mercury antardasha will also be bad for him as Mars and Mercury are not friends
    Please guide
    Regards,

    Dear Vivekji
    Namaste

You are doing great job for beginners of Astrology . God bless you.
I must mention here some great Astrologers like PVR Narrsingh Rao ( Engineer by profession just like you but having family lineage of ASTROLOGY) who has created a world class software Jagannath Hora and made available free of cost to the Astrology community.
Barbara Pijan Lama vedic astrology website site very extensive covers almost all aspects of astrology with lot of examples .

Mr.K.N.Rao, legendary astrologer of India who was a founder of ASTROLOGY Courses in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi has written many books on ASTROLOGY. He was accountant General of Govt. of India. He developed interest in Astrology due to his mother. According to him she was great Astrologer. Mr. Rao met many yogis and Mahatmas in India whose predictions were more accurate than the Astrologers.
Now a days Astrology has become a “Bussiness”in India . Mr. Rao was against this.
Till date whatever Astrology knowledge you have distributed is a Seva.

I am retired Principal of Food Technolgy College and During the COVID-19 Period have learnt few aspects of Astrology ( May be due to my lagna lord Mercury deposited
in 8 th house conjuncted by ketu and Aspected by Jupiter from 2nd house for Virgo Lagna).
According to Mr. K.N Rao ASTROLOGY IS SO VAST THAT ONE LIFE IS NOT.
    SUFFICIENT TO LEARN IT.

Best wishes for upcoming books and Astrological pursuits

It’s an absolute delight seeing such an endeavour by an astrology enthusiast, Jyotish student and a teacher too as you are spreading the light to everyone who comes here. I have only stumbled upon your blog now and I thought I must give you my compliments before I go through the site which will take a lot more visits.

I also don’t know if you’ve been posting and if you shared your thoughts about the great conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter that happened last year or thoughts over the big player Jupiter changing positions this year. Vivek you must allow your readers to know the astrological you (Your astrological combinations) as I personally do respect you not giving your identity out for many reasons and the first being flocked by questions or free chart analysis. But it will help many such as me to understand how deeply you are invested into research learning maths.

    Best,
    Kanika

    Hello Sir:

I am new here. It is so nice to see someone who is dedicated to Jyotish Astrology and not make it a “business.” I am looking forward to follow and study all your lessons. Do you plan to do any Youtube video. Let me know if there is any other websites and teachers I should look into since I am a beginner. Having a good teacher makes all the difference in understanding this sublime knowledge.
Thank you for your wisdom and sincerity.

    Hello Sir,

I am writing to you today after quite some thought about something that is not related to astrology questions or blogs but pertains to learning astrology. I am Scientist in a Medical University at Chicago. I always had a passion to learn vedic astrology and would try to learn by myself at my own pace. At some point 3 years back, I thought it would be wise to invest some money & learn from a knowledgeable person.

I came across Dr. Shankar Bhattacharya (Astrosanhita.com) from West Bengal, India who has his own website with great reviews of him being a good teacher as well as a professional astrologer. His fees in 2019 was 600 USD & he gave me a discount of 30 USD. I joined his course which he started 1 on 1 with skype. His course is a set of 9 modules which he mostly keeps locked & password protected. For more then 2 years he taught the very basics which included topics like Bhav, House, Kalpurush, Signs, etc, which I was already aware off. I hoped to learn something advance from him, but he kept going on in circles with the same topics. He suddenly stopped taking classes saying he doesn’t feel motivated to teach me. He no longer takes my calls or answer any WhatsApp messages. Today almost after a year I called & wrote to him again, requested at least half the refund, with no luck. That is when I decided to write to you about something that has bothered me, although, I understand this platform is not the place to write such things.

His modules have the exact content taken word by word from this website, within the Lessons & Advanced lessons tab. I have screenshots and print outs of everything. Even the style and pattern of copying is similar. I know, nothing can be done about this, yet I just wanted to let you & others from the astrology community know about this.

While there is someone like you who has a large heart to give out all this content for free just for the sake of knowledge and enlightenment, there are others out there who make a flourishing licensed business out of all these content as well as cheat others not only in terms of money but also distribution of knowledge. I will perhaps write a review online so that from my experience, one thinks twice before investing into his course. This being a professional course, I lost all the money & gained nothing out of it. Sorry to have troubled you but thank you for reading this.

    Regards,
    SR

      Hello Sumita

Thanks for writing in detail about this, I appreciate it.

Even though I have this website for free for any aspiring student of astrology and have in my entire life not charged a single penny from anyone, it really frustrates me as to how people are involved in crime – monetizing someone else’s thoughts and intellectual property. As you are in the US and a scientist, you will realize that this is plagiarism and is illegal in most countries

Would you paste his website (if still active here) so that everyone can see his fraud and I will try and contact his webpage owner/ himself. Making profit out of my writings without as much as reaching out to take permission to reproduce my writings and thoughts is just not acceptable at any level

      Thanks

    Hello Sir,

Thank you so much for your message. The link to his website is:
    https://astrosanhita.com/
The tab is astrology course & the content can only be accessed on paying his fees. Although he did get back to me today asking me to join another batch of beginners.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumita

      Hello Sumita

Thanks for the info. I do not know this individual nor have given him any permission to reproduce my writings and thoughts, leave alone monetize them for his business. The fact that they are visible only after one pays, clearly shows that he wishes to monetize while hiding the writings so as to not show up in auto searches of the internet

Hopefully you can do the right thing and inform him that this is illegal and ethically wrong as well and he should immediately cease utilizing material from this website

      Thanks

  97. Sumita Raha says:

    Hello Sir,

I am deciding on not to continue with him since I don’t have the time to start with basics again. However, I will definitely let him know, how things came to my notice and request him to immediately change or modify his course content, highlighting on this being unethical & a case of plagiarism. I have nothing more to lose & I shall deal with this.
I am also very sorry to have you involved in this matter and cause a certain level of disturbance. I do hope he takes action immediately & makes changes for the good.
    Thank you so much.

    Best,
    Sumita

Thanks for the update Sumita. You dont have to apologize for doing the right thing. The individual is clearly a fraud and a liar. He mentions as a catch line that 300,000 + horoscopes analyzed, which means that if someone analyzes over 50 charts a day – a virtual impossibility to do without break for over 20 yrs non stop, even then such a number can not be reached. Clearly fake, the individual is charging people high charges in USD while being in India?! and then stealing intellectual property in the process from the likes of me to monetize it on

      Shameful!

  98. Sumita Raha says:

    Hello Sir,

That was a brilliant interpretation & evaluation of the numbers. I never thought of it this way & it makes perfect sense. You are also right about analyzing the true nature of the person. He is one of the biggest liars & manipulators that I have ever come across.

I wanted to give you an update after quite some confrontation with him for the past week. I had conveyed the message & also had asked him again for half the refund of the amount I paid. It was a point blank no, saying I cannot undo the knowledge he gave me. This is a big joke because he just taught me what I already knew. So, I finally asked him to give me the access to the lessons which he had revoked for almost a year. At present he is in absolute denial about that.

He at last gave me the access, but the site had no course content. I kept writing to him about this but he answered that the content does not open because I am not clearing cookies & cache. Day before yesterday the content finally opened but he very cleverly changed the course & it’s title to Nadi astrology & told me he had done that quite sometime back but forgot to let me know. Although, even last week I saw the Basic to Advanced astrology course, on his website in which I was actually enrolled & is now priced for $1000. There was also a separate Nadi astrology course priced $500.

All the modules are password protected except the first 2. The first module is completely Nadi, its history, mandis etc & the 2nd module is a mixture of signs, planets, house & Bhav. He reshuffled all the content & made it more concise. It is at least good he made these changes.

I have had a very hard negative week dealing with him & all his lies. Just because I placed all the truth in front of him, he is accusing me of mental imbalance. He pretends to play the Guru Shishya responsibility & accused me of snatching knowledge from him like a pizza (the most stupid simile I have ever come across). He suggests I should acquire it in a respectful manner. I have given him enough respect for the past 3 years. This has crossed all limits of my patience & perseverance, so I had to write all the truth to him, hence I am framed as disrespectful & mentally ill today.

I will consider this as a bad event of my life & forget it eventually. I feel relieved & am grateful this is finally over. I am also glad that he probably realized & has started making changes to his previous course content. Thank you so much for bearing with me.

    Best Wishes,
    Sumita

don’t speak English but I can read a little. The good thing is that there is technology that allows me to translate into Spanish by copying and pasting paragraphs to be able to read fluently.
Today I was reading the blog and it made me very angry to read that there are unscrupulous people who take advantage of others and take advantage of this wonderful site for profit. I think Professor VS has a good heart and shares his knowledge with us for free.
It is a blessing to have found this site.

    Many thanks
